Corn Oil: Complete Vitamin Profile

Corn Oil: Considered a good source of vitamins?

Corn oil is not a good source of vitamins. It does contain some Vitamin E, but studies have shown that this vitamin is better absorbed from other sources such as nuts and seeds. The main benefit of corn oil is its relatively high content of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA's). These can help lower bad cholesterol levels in the blood and increase the proportion of healthy HDL cholesterol levels. Corn oil also contains polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) which may provide cardiovascular benefits. However, just because it contains PUFAs or MUFAs doesn't mean that it should be used to boost your nutrient intake. A diet rich in whole foods like fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds is still the best way to get adequate nutrition.
