Mutton Tallow: Complete Mineral Profile

Mutton Tallow: Considered a good source of minerals?

Mutton tallow is an animal fat derived from the kidneys and fatty tissues of sheep. While it does contain minerals such as zinc, riboflavin, iron, magnesium, potassium, and other trace elements, mutton tallow is not generally considered a good source of these minerals because its high concentration of saturated fats can prevent the body from absorbing many of them. The body needs certain amounts of minerals for proper growth and development, but since most of what is found in mutton tallow are in small quantities, they provide little to no nutritional benefit. Additionally, consuming too much saturated fat increases the risk of developing chronic diseases such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and some forms of cancer.
