Butterscotch: Complete Mineral Profile

Butterscotch: Considered a good source of minerals?

Butterscotch is not a good source of minerals. It is made from butter, sugar and sometimes cream or corn syrup which have no mineral content. The only trace minerals that may be present in butterscotch are the ones picked up during its manufacturing process (e.g. calcium and magnesium can be found if these compounds were used to make it). But even with those minor amounts, they will not contribute significantly to your daily needs. So while butterscotch can be a tasty treat, it’s not a great choice for getting important vitamins and minerals. Stick to other healthy sources such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes and fortified foods such as dairy products, breakfast cereals and soy beverages.
